Sharon Elaine Guess, 68, was born February 11, 1951, in Independence, MO to the union of Willie Leo Roby and Thelma Juanita (Robinson) Creer. Sharon went home to glory on Tuesday, September 17, 2019. She was preceded in death by both of her parents; Husband Leo Guess Sr; three brothers Tyrone Creer, Ronald Guess, Larry Roby; three sisters Alanda (Creer) Wright, Kimberlyn Creer, Lee Ann Pulliam, Juanita Smalls, Mary Jo (Roby) Shemill; one loving granddaughter Angel M. Guess.
Sharon attended school at Paseo High School. She continued her education by receiving a Bachelors in Accounting at UMKC and Associates in Business at Penn Valley/UMKC. She retired from Internal Revenue Service February 2011 after 30+ years of service. As we all know she was not one who could sit still and always believed in giving back she started working at Metro Lutheran Ministry where she would assist in bill paying assist, homeless shelters and much more due to her illness she was asked to resign and she was devastated as to find another way to do God's work. She also was Avon representative, Independent Travel Agent at InteleTravel and Marketing Representative at PlanNet Marketing.
On September 1977, Leo Guess Sr married Sharon E. Robinson unto this was born two sons Dewayne Guess and Leand Guess. Sharon accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized by the late Pastor Elbert H. Cole of Second Baptist Church in Independence, Mo. She later joined Calvary Temple Baptist Church in Kansas City, Mo under the leadership of Rev. Eric D. Williams, where she was a member for 20+ years. Being able to serve and do God's work was her true compassion.She served on the Member Deacons Wives, Church Treasurer, active member on daily prayer line and regularly attend bible study and Sunday school.
Her love for God and family was phenomenal. She was always willing to help others in need she purchased an SUV so she could offer anyone in need a ride; opening her home to the homeless; giving her last dollar to feed you, to cloth you, pay a bill or whatever it took. She loved to cook (best potato salad and "crack" kool-aid) and spend time with family. You can always go to her for anything, she had this true connection with God that we can not speak of, she saw the best in everyone, she never had an enemy. Her true motto was: I'm Blessed, no matter when you asked her how she's doing or feeling her response would be the same "I'm Blessed", she will be in pain at the highest level 10 and can barely speak but would say clearly "I'm Blessed".
Her legacy is carried on by her four sons DeWayne Guess (Karla) of Kansas City, Mo, Leland Guess of Kansas City, Mo, Leo Guess Jr. of Hugo, OK, and Uylande "Floyd" Guess (Darlene) of Kansas City, Mo; three daughters LaTonya Guess of Kansas City, Mo, Yolonda Guess of Las Vegas, NV, and LaSonjia "Renee" Green of Kansas City, Mo; six brothers Lionel Robinson Sr. of Independence, Mo, Clinton "Buster" Robinson of Independence, Mo, Willie Roby Jr. (Linda) of Kansas City, KS, William Roby Sr. (Kelly) of Kansas City, Mo, Frank Roby of Kansas City, Mo, and Michael Green of Kansas City, Mo; three sisters Betty Cobb of Kansas City, Mo, Hazel Henderson (Walter) of Adelante, Ca, and Yulonda Massaquoi (Eddie) of Kansas City, Mo; six grandsons Brandon Guess (Tiffany) of Kansas City, Mo, Johnny Guess (Ginger) of Kansas City, Mo, Jevon Guess of Kansas City, Mo, Raymond Guess (Tiana) of Kansas City, Mo, and Jordan Blount of Kansas City, Mo and Jamon Norfleet of Kansas City, Mo; six granddaughters Alecia Hemphill (John) of Kansas City, Mo, Kayla Dixon of Kansas City, Mo, Bri'Gina Guess (Gunn) of Kansas City, Mo, LaKeisha Wyse (Kaynita) of Chicago, IL, Brittany Blount of Kansas City, and Mo, Lauren Blount of Kansas City, Mo; special nieces Christina Robinson-Jones (Neron) of Raymore Mo and Kimberlynn Scott of Kansas City, Mo; two special friends Wanda and Nancy of both Kansas City, Mo; two special sons Reginald Wagner (Shanice) of Kansas City, Mo and Gary Stevens (Yolanda) of Kansas City, Mo; and host of great grandchildren, uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services Friday, September 27, 12:00 p.m. at Second Baptist Church of Independence. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at the church. Services conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Condolences may be shared on our website.
