Sharon Ann (Alnutt) Williams was born December 15, 1947, to James Ralph and Murriel Alnutt. She was the fourth of eight children born to this union. Sharon was 69 years old when she departed this life Friday, September 29, 2017 at the Kansas City Hospice House. Sharon was christened as a young child and was a lifetime member of Willis Chapel A.M.E. Church. She served as a member of the Youth and Senior Choirs and was a faithful member until her multiple sclerosis prevented her from attending. Sharon received her elementary education at the old Phillis Wheatley and Graceland Elementary Schools and her high school education at Paseo and Southeast. She attended Lincoln University of Jefferson City, Missouri where she received a Bachelor Science degree in Elementary Education. Sharon also attended Northeast Missouri State University for graduate studies. While at Lincoln University, Sharon was crowned Miss Lincoln University for 1968-69, and was also selected as Who's Who of College and University Students. After graduating Lincoln University, Sharon married Ramón Douglas Johnson. To this union, one child, Ramón Douglas, II, was born. Sharon later married Kirby Delbert Sanders. To this union one child, Kyra DeNean, was born. Subsequently, she married Arthel Barner, Jr. and then Roy Williams. Sharon taught at the Immaculate Conception Catholic School in Jefferson City, Missouri, before joining the Kansas City, Missouri School District. She taught a total of 24 years at Phillis Wheatley, Wendell Phillips and Mary Harmon Weeks Elementary Schools until she could no longer work due to her illness. Sharon loved to bake and cook. Her pies, cookies, lasagna and taco nights were family favorites. She was very organized and kept her home immaculate. Playing cards and bingo were two of her favorite pastimes. She could always be found around the card table. She also loved people and never met a stranger. While in the nursing home, Sharon wanted her door open so she could greet everyone who passed by, workers and residents alike. She introduced and shared her visitors throughout the facility. Sharon was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1977 and colon cancer in 2017. During her many years of suffering, Sharon never complained or asked "Why me?". She had such a positive attitude and a beautiful sweet spirit. Sharon would always say that she was blessed. Sharon is preceded in death by both parents, one grandson: Kyrie David Brown; two nephews: Roy Michael Collins and Gregory John Collins and one niece: Yvette Alnutt Reiner (Pebbles). Sharon leaves to cherish her memory one son: Ramón Douglas Johnson, II (Angie) of San Antonio, TX; one daughter: Kyra DeNean Brown (David) of Overland Park, KS; two grandsons: Kirby DeVon Grigsby of Overland Park, KS and Ramón Douglas Johnson, III of San Antonio, TX; three granddaughters: Kelsea Dream Brown, Kyndal Destiny Brown and Kariah Danyel Brown of Overland Park, KS; seven siblings: Sandra Lee Garner, James Ralph (Dune) Alnutt, Jr. (Jannie), Marilyn Kay Alnutt, Janice Olivia Davis (Lawrence), Deborah Regina Dickerson (James), and Darrell Ray Alnutt all of Kansas City, MO and Renée Patrice Gray from Grandview, MO; six nephews, nine nieces, a longtime and devoted friend: Pat Frierson; a host of great nephews and nieces and other relatives and friends. Funeral services Saturday, October 7, 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Washington Baptist Church. Interment Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation 9:00-11:00 a.m. at the church. Services conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Condolences may be shared on our website.
