Sheila Annette
Battles
Aug 23, 1953 — Feb 28, 2025
Sheila Battle, a devoted wife, loving mother, and cherished grandmother, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2025, in Kansas City, Missouri. Her life was a beautiful reflection of love and a heart devoted to serving others.
Born on August 23, 1953, in Kansas City, Missouri, to her proud parents Herman and Dorcas Bell, Sheila grew up with a strong sense of family and community. She was educated in the Kansas City, Missouri School District and pursued higher education at Northwestern Junior College, where she earned an Associate of Arts degree. Her passion for helping others led her to a career as the Assistant Director at New Horizons, where she dedicated herself to uplifting and supporting those around her until her retirement in 2012.
Never one to remain idle, Sheila's love for fashion inspired her to obtain her cosmetology license in 1995—a license she proudly held until her passing. Whether through her professional work or personal pursuits, Sheila's dedication to excellence and her ability to make others feel valued and beautiful shined brightly.
Sheila shared 35 wonderful years of marriage with her beloved husband, Joseph Reynolds-Battles. Together, they created a home filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. As a proud mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Sheila's greatest joy was her family. She poured her heart into raising and supporting her children, always finding ways to nurture and guide them with wisdom and grace.
Known for her warm spirit and boundless generosity, Sheila touched the lives of everyone who had the privilege to know her. She found happiness in life's simple pleasures—shopping, staying busy, and spending time with her beloved grandchildren. Her faith and devotion to her family were unwavering, and she had an extraordinary gift for making those around her feel loved and supported.
Sheila was preceded in death by her parents, her two beloved sons, Ronald Bell and Donald Bell, and two sisters, Courtney Bell and Marsha Bell. Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort knowing that she is reunited with those she loved and missed dearly.
She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted husband, Joseph Reynolds-Battles; one son, Joseph Reynolds II; five daughters, LeOnda Reynolds, LeTosha Reynolds, Myia Odems, Mary Reynolds, and Jamel Reynolds; three brothers, Don Bell, Herman Bell Jr., and Eddie Bell; two sisters, Herma Jean Young and Sylvia Bell of Arkansas; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends across the Kansas City area.
While Sheila may no longer walk beside us, her legacy of love, kindness, and faith will forever be etched in our hearts. Her life was a testament to the power of love and service—a shining example of what it means to care deeply for others and to live each day with purpose. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will continue to guide and inspire all who were blessed to know her.
May her soul rest in eternal peace.
