Sheila A.
Bentley
Mar 12, 1959 — Jan 13, 2018
Sheila Ann Bentley, 58, passed away on January 13, 2018 at the home. She was born March 12, 1959 to James and Jessie Bentley, the fourth child born to this union. Sheila was preceded in death by her father, James Bentley and her son, Wade Bentley.
Sheila was educated in the Kansas City, Missouri School District. JROTC was one of her favorite courses.
Sheila was feisty, yet extremely loving, kind, and enjoyed spending quality time with family and friends. She was the life of every party she attended. She loved her children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and all young people she encountered. There was always a house full of children at her home being showered with love, a healthy dose of discipline and stuffed with food.
Sheila enjoyed cooking, bingo, word search puzzles, visiting the casino, traveling, talking on the phone, and cleaning. Cleaning was therapeutic for Sheila, and it was also how she earned a living for many years. She was also a daycare provider for numerous children including her own grandchildren. She loved to cook, and fried chicken (perfectly seasoned and golden brown) was her specialty. Sheila continued to fry chicken and cook for her family even while going through arduous medical treatments.
Sheila never met a stranger she couldn't engage in conversation with, she would talk with someone she just met like she knew them for years. Sheila accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Savior at an early age. She was baptized as a child and again as an adult at Hosanna Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend David Lee.
Sheila leaves to cherish her precious memories: two daughters, Joy Bentley-Jackson (John) and Shemecca Bentley; her mother, Jessie Bentley; six brothers, Vic Bentley, Jerry Bentley, James B. Bentley, James A. Bentley, Pierre Hamilton and Terry Hamilton; four sisters, Regina Phillips, Veronica Welch, Toni Bentley, and Latonya Bentley; eight grandchildren, Gerard, Dal'Vonta, Rae'necca, Arya, Ryshon, Heaven, Wade, Dai'Jah, and an abundance of other relatives and friends.
