Shirley Jean
Honeycutt
Nov 9, 1949 — Sep 20, 2016
Shirley Jean found the Lord at a young age from her birthplace in Winnfield, LA. It was her deceased parents; Joe and Willie Mae Nichols, who taught her to fear the Lord since her birth on November 9, 1949. This may also be where Shirley developed her love Christmas Lights! Shirley Jean's formal education was fostered from the Winnfield, LA school system. Shirley later sustained her life and family by becoming a CNA, and eventually a private health care worker. With a voice that was distinctive among a choir of many, Shirley loved to sing. It was a pleasure for her lends her voice as solo or weaving it into the background. As she was working to write her name on her heavenly home's deed; our mother, sister, grandmother loved to build homes of her own in the form of beautiful dollhouses. She was a wonderful spirit and First Lady to the Springhill Baptist Church. When there is no more sewing that she loved to do, when the last meal that she loved to cook for her family and friends is finished, the last puzzle piece has been added and after her last knitting class with her grandchildren is recognized. Mrs. Shirley Jean Honeycutt went through the gates on September 20, 2016, surrounded by prayers, healing thoughts, hopeful tears and a devoted husband; Rev. Dennis Honeycutt. She will be received by her parents; her son, Freddie Nichols; siblings, Rodger, Robert, Jerry, Willie D. Nichols and Clara Matson. Her heart will always rest in the hearts of her children: Roger and Teddie Nichols, Billy and Mohammad Evans, along with a daughter Lizzie Evans. As a darling sister she will be etched in the hearts of her siblings: Dillon J, Joe L, Roy J. Nichols, and one sister Catherine Nichols (whom she later cared for). Funeral services will be Saturday, October 1, 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church. Interment XII Gates Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the church. Services conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Condolences may be shared on our website.
