Susie Mae Fields, 66, KCMO, passed away on March 4, 2017 at the University of Kansas Hospital. She was born April 18, 1950 in Itta Bena, Mississippi to the union of William Young and Annie Mae (Waller) Young. She was preceded in death by both parents and two sisters, Katie Jones and Mary Ann McIntosh. Susie graduated from Lincoln High School in Kansas City, Missouri and later earned an Associate's degree from Donnelly College in Kansas City, Kansas. She also earned a Bachelor's degree from the University of Saint Mary in Leavenworth, Kansas. Susie was in loving relationship with Marcus Fields, Sr. for forty-eight years. Susie was united in holy matrimony to Marcus in 1989. Through their union, Shaun Young and Donell Young, Sr. were born. Susie also had three stepsons, Marcus Merrill, Marcus Fields, Jr. and Anthony Fields. Susie worked most of her life as a surgical technician and retired from the University of Kansas Hospital. She was a devoted member of Highland Baptist Church for over thirty years, where she was an active member and former president of the Usher Board. She leaves to cherish her unforgettable memories: her husband, Marcus Fields, Sr.; two sons, Shaun Young (Kirsten) and Donell Young, Sr. (Morgan); three stepsons, Marcus Merrill, Marcus Fields, Jr. (Christine), Anthony Fields (Laketria); daughter-in-law, Adrianne Young; two brothers, Willie Young (Margaret) and Robert Young (Rochelle); four sisters, Carolyn Young, Loretta Young (Hershey), Sharon McGowan and Sandra Williams; one step-brother, Ricky Waller; thirteen grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be Saturday, March 11, 11:00 a.m. at Highland Baptist Church. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at the church. Services conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Condolences may be shared on our website.
