Sylvester Primers entered life on November 13, 1937. He was the second child born to the union of Sylvester Primers Sr. and Sarah Cobbins. His parents, sister, Emma Henderson and his brother, Willie C. Primers, all preceded him in death. Sylvester was educated in the Lexington, Mississippi Public School District. He accepted Christ at an early age and was raised as a God fearing child. While in Lexington, MS, Sylvester met Lillie Redmond. The couple later married and with this union shared five children. There was nothing Sylvester could not do if he set his mind to it. He was a jack of all trades. He had many years of experience in the construction field. He enjoyed cooking and loved to sing. His music was original. He founded a musical group called The Pilgrim Outlets in 1962. They have sung God's Praises all over the Midwest and the South including Chicago with the Pilgrim Jubilees, The Might Clouds of Joy and the Violinaires. The album, Do You Know Him, was in the top 100 of the Billboard Gospel charts for over a year. Later, in his journey he met Zetta Barnes. The couple fell in love and later married in July of 2006. Zetta stayed by his side while he suffered many health issues. They were in love until the day he departed. On Wednesday, May 12, 2021, Sylvester stepped into eternity. His memory will always be cherished by his wife, Zetta Primers; his children, Shirley Graves, Sylvester Primers III, Theresa Primers, Tyrone Primers, Tarrell Primers, his brother Bobby Primers, and many grandchildren, great grandchildren; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
