Terry Tyrone Carlisle, Sr., 53, of Grandview, Missouri, passed away on April 8, 2017 at the Veteran's Administration Medical Center. He was born May 15, 1963 in East St. Louis, Illinois to the union of Aaron Sr. and Irene Ann (Wicks) Carlisle. He was preceded in death by his father and sisters, Tanga Carlisle and Patricia Carlisle. Terry gave his life to Christ at an early age and was baptized at New Bethel Baptist Church. He received his formal education through the East St. Louis public school system, graduating from East St. Louis High School where he first fell in love with wrestling. After high school, Terry furthered his education at Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Missouri on a Wrestling scholarship. While majoring in Agriculture at Lincoln, he pledged Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Bloody Alpha Psi in the fall of 1983. Terry served in the United States Navy for five years before being honorably discharged. He later served three years in the United States Army Reserves. In 1987, Terry moved to Kansas City, Missouri where he made his home. He was employed as a phlebotomist for several health institutes such as Western Missouri V.A. Medical Center and Cleveland Manor for twenty years. He worked for Smithfield Foods until his health began to fail. In 2009, Terry met his soulmate, Veronica Yvonne Sullivan and the two wed on May 7, 2011. He was devoted husband, father and father figure to many. As a provider, he possessed strength and intelligence that allowed him to wear fatherhood as a badge of honor. He was studious and courageous, in addition to being a gentleman and role model. To meet Terry, would be encountering a man who was charming, charismatic, smooth in his walk and even smoother in his talk. Terry never met a stranger and welcomed everyone he met with opened arms making them feel loved. To cherish his wonderful heartfelt memory are his loving wife, Veronica Y. Carlisle; sons, Tyrone T. Carlisle, Terril Larkins, Terry T. Carlisle, Jr., Dorion Guthrie, and Michael Carlisle; daughters, Leeah Bryant, LaKeisha Carlisle, Terri Carlisle, and Christine Horne; his mother, Irene Carlisle; brothers, Aaron Carlisle, Jr. (LaDonna), Michael Carlisle (Milbert), Victor Carlisle (Traci), and Tony Crawford (Shonda); sisters, Angela Carlisle and Arnetta Crawford; brother-in-law, Ernest Sullivan (Patricia); sister-in-law, Vanessa Rhynes; a host of grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be Saturday, April 15, 11:00 a.m. at Gregg Tabernacle A.M.E. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at the church.
