Jackson
Apr 7, 1944 — Mar 18, 2025
I was born on April 7, 1944, in Topeka, Kansas, and departed this life on the day March
18, 2025. My parents were, Paul Kirkland Jackson and Mabel Reese Jackson (Schiele),
grandmother, Mary Douglas, step-father Rev. Gerald Schiele and my brothers, Paul
Cagie Jackson, Douglas Edward Jackson, John Anthony Jackson, my daughter Lisa
Lanell Hale, who preceded me in death on August 1, 2023. I was previously married to
Charles Haywood Hale, who is now deceased, and the father of my two daughters
Tracie Lynn and Lisa Lanell, who both have taken excellent care of me.
I graduated in 1962 from Topeka High School in Topeka, KS, and attended Metropolitan
Junior College in Kansas City, then transferred to William Jewel College in Liberty, MO,
There, I earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education in 1975.
I furthered my education by obtaining a Master's Degree of Science in Guidance and
Counseling at Central Missouri State University,Warrensburg, Missouri in the year of
1989. I also held a Master's degree in Health Care Administration, obtained from the
University of Michigan.
I was employed with the Topeka State Hospital and The Neurological Institute as a
Psychiatric Aide in Topeka, Kansas and in the state of Missouri. I worked as a Mental
health Aide at the Western Missouri Mental Health Center and the Diagnostic Center. l
was also an Analytical Technician at Chemegro Chemical Company in Kansas City,
MO.
Finally, I was a teacher for the Kansas City Missouri School District, and taught sixth
grade Math and Science for twelve years then, transferred in to School Counseling. I
began my school counseling at Woodland Elementary School, then transferred to Paul
Robenson Middle School and then to Fairview Transitional School, where I went into the
classrooms and taught the students various lessons on the different aspects and
different situations in life. I also counseled individually with the students and their
parents. I retired from the Missouri Board of Education in 2006. I supplemented my
time on retirement as an Educational Coordinator for the nonprofit agency, Caring &
SHARING.
I started my Christian journey as a child of eight years old, going to Sunday School at
Calvery Baptist Church, Topeka, KS and became a Christian at the age of twelve. I
Moved to Kansas City, Missouri when I was 20 years old and transferred my church
membership to Pleasant Green Baptist Church, then, to Cleveland Avenue Baptist
Church, around 1994, where I have been a member until my death, over 20 years. I
participated in various church activities but I mostly liked the choir until my health
interfered.
I really, really enjoyed reading my Bible and other varieties of literatures. I liked playing
games such as Dominoes, Monopoly, Bid Whiz and Backgammon . My mother
introduced me to various genres of music but, I developed a deep appreciation for jazz.
I also became affiliated with the Mutual Musicians Jazz Foundation. I loved to dance,
too! I was one of the Founders of the Kansas City Chapters of the Delta Sigma Theta
Sorority in 1972. I was a very kind and giving, creative person. It is a beautiful blessing
that the Lord allowed me to live and experience the joys of being a Mother,
Grandmother, friend, and most of all, Great Grandmother. Although there were pains,
and at times heartache along the way. I have told my daughters that it has been a
beautiful and wonderful journey being their mother.
My saviors are Jesus Christ my Lord and Savior, my daughter Tracie Lynn, my daughter
Lisa Lanell, y Grandson Douglas Gerald Edward. Your love and support meant
everything to me. I leave my love to my Nephew, Anthony Jackson, his children and his
Mother, Norma Jackson. My Great Grandsons Mathias, Meztli and Baby Hale. Dmiyah
and her mother Marchand and their family. I thank you for embracing us.
Special Friends: Sherri Brown and her lovely daughters, Kimberly and Michelle,
Shimmel Toms Wooden, Kathy Dourough, Katheryn Brockenberry, Tracy Garlington,
Leilani Grover, and so many others.
Last, but not least, my favorite scriptures are and always will be Proverbs 3:5-6 and
Matthew 6:9.
I love you all. And I thank God for the life He has given me. God bless and see you
one day again.
