Obituary

Theron "Wade" English was born March 12, 1948 to Berniece Luton and Robert English in Parsons, Kansas. Wade was adopted and reared by his grandmother and grandfather, Vera Mae English and Virgil English, who introduced him to and taught him about Jesus Christ at an early age. Wade had three brothers: Daniel Luton, Leon Luton, William Lee Luton and one sister, Elizabeth Luton Watson. Wade, along with Charles Nash, Clifford Nash and Larry Nash were reared as brothers by his grandmother and were affectionately called Vera's boys. He gained a bonus brother, Eric Bell, when he moved to Kansas City in 1970. Wade was preceded in death by his mother and father, grandmother and grandfather, brothers: Daniel, Leon, Clifford and Larry; sister, Elizabeth and adopted son, Darrell English.

Wade received his early education at Douglas Elementary School in Parsons, Kansas and completed his education when he joined the United States Army, where he served from 1967 until 1970. Wade was a remarkable man! He distinguished himself while serving as a Medical Aidman in the Republic of Vietnam. In 1969, with complete disregard for his personal safety, Pvt. 1st Class Theron Wade English braved intense gunfire to treat the wounded. Although wounded himself later in the battle, he continued to aid his comrades to the best of his ability. By direction of the President of the United States of America for his personal bravery, fortitude and exemplary devotion to duty, Wade was awarded the Bronze Star for heroism in ground combat, the Bronze Star for heroism in connection with military operations against an armed hostile force and the Purple Heart for wounds he received in action on May 18, 1969.

After his army tour of duty, Wade was employed by Parsons Police Department and later at the Army Ammunition Plant. He moved to Kansas City, Kansas in 1970 and was employed by the U. S. Postal Service for 30 years, until his retirement. After he retired, he was able to pursue his passion for fishing, hunting and grilling.

On March 11, 1995, Wade met and married Vera Mae Carprue. It's amazing that Wade married the love of his life who would have the same name as his loving grandmother, Vera Mae English! Wade leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife of 28 years, Vera Mae English; his children: Michael Turner of Denver, Colorado; Theron W. English, Jr. (Sara) of Parsons, Kansas; Ebony English of Kansas City, Missouri; Cinda Waters (Cortez) of Shawnee Mission, Kansas and LaKendra Ervin (Elgin) of Kansas City, Missouri; his brothers: William Luton (Karen) of Parsons, Kansas and Charles Nash (Gail) of Denver, Colorado. He also leaves a daughter-in-law, Rolanda English Williams (Hiram), whom he considered as a daughter; 19 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, loving relatives and dear friends.
