Thomas George Andrews, 67, Raymore, MO, was born in Kansas City, KS on February 26, 1949, to the union of Jack Thomas Andrews and Viva Marie Grady. He was the only son born to Jack and Viva. At the age of 9 years old, he professed his faith in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ at Morning Star Baptist Church in Kansas City, MO. Thomas graduated from Lincoln High School in Kansas City, MO. He joined the United States Navy, in which he served our country in the Vietnam War. During his service, he played trumpet and won boxing tournaments. While Thomas was stationed in Hawaii on tour with the Navy, he met and married Crystal Halverson. Unto this union two children were born, Tamara Andrews and Jason Andrews. On February 26, 1977, Thomas and Brenda (Riley) Andrews were united in a beautiful, loving marriage that lasted 39 years. Thomas enjoyed being a very active father and loving husband. He was very dedicated to helping his children pursue their education and professional aspirations. He had a great love for travel, fishing, woodworking, cars, and fashion. As a servant of the Lord, Thomas Andrews was a faithful member of Church of Faith International, pastored by his son. He served as an ordained Deacon and a member of the praise and worship team. Thomas believed in having a strong work ethic. He worked at Allied Signal (formally Bendix) for over a decade. In 2013, Thomas retired, after nearly 20 years, from the City of Kansas City Missouri as a Code Enforcement Officer. Thomas was called home on the 2nd day of March at the University of Kansas Hospital, the same hospital where he was born. He was surrounded by his loving wife, children, sister, family and friends. He was truly an unforgettable person who was loved and respected by many. He leaves behind his wife, Brenda Andrews; six children, Tamara Andrews, Jason Andrews (Nakia) of Memphis, TN, Xandria Andrews (Duane), Pastor Anthony Andrews (Tori), Elizabeth O'Neal (Michael), Dr. Adrianna Marshall (Jason) of Macomb, IL, and godson, Chevalier Riley. He also leaves behind two older sisters, Anna Andrews and Jacquelyne Andrews; and a host of grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins, church family, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his youngest sister, Alice Andrews. Thomas was known as the life of the party. He was a man you could depend on. He was a father figure to anyone who needed one and was a family man who cherished his wife with all of his heart. He will be deeply missed. Funeral services will be Saturday, March 12, 11:00 a.m. at Church of Faith International. Interment Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at the church.
