Obituary

Thomas Hilton Henderson, 75, was born June 29, 1942 in Opelousas, Louisiana, the eldest of two children born to Ceola Long. His mother preceded him in death.

Thomas attended J.S. Clark High School, graduating in 1962. He then moved to Kansas City, Missouri where he would make his home.

Thomas was employed at KCI Airport for ten years before moving on to work for Fabric Quilt. After thirty-years of service, he retired as his health began to fail.

Thomas loved fishing and bowling as a pastime. He also enjoyed playing his guitar.

Thomas departed this life on January 9, 2018 at Swope Ridge Geriatric Center.

He is survived by his wife, Irma Henderson; son, Tony Henderson; daughter, Sheila Henderson; step-children, Ernest Rogers (Brenda), Anthony Rogers (Mona), Jerome Rogers (Jan) and Rosalind Thomas; brother, James Long; aunt, Brookie Hall; God daughter, Billy Smith; nineteen grandchildren, thirty-two great grandchildren and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services Saturday, January 20, 12:00 p.m. at Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church. Interment XII Gates Memorial Gardens. Visitation 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. at the church. Services conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Condolences may be shared on our website.
