Tiara Nichole Burns, 30, was born on July 24, 1985 to the union of Bernard and Georgiana Burns in Kansas City, Missouri. She was the only child born to this union. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Rev. Landis and Norma Jean Jackson, and her paternal grandparents Earnest and Fannie Ford. Tiara accepted Christ at an early age and attended Concord Fortress of Hope Church. Tiara was called to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 12, 2016. After graduating from Raytown South High School, Tiara attended Avila University where she was a member of the Women's Basketball Team, and she obtained her Bachelors of Arts degree in Communications with an emphasis in Photography. Her most recent interest was in Film and Digital Media. A lover of sports, Tiara began playing for the Kansas City Tribe, a semi-professional Woman's football team. She played with the team for four years and was a member of the 2009 and 2012 National Championship teams. Tiara had a very strong work ethic. She was an employee of Signature Flight Support for the past five years as a Line Technician. Over the years she held many roles and did everything but fly the plane! She also worked part-time with Integrated Airline Services and previously worked for Midwest Airlines as well. Tiara was happiest surrounded by family and friends. She loved her dogs, Milo, Jock and Jangles, the kids in her life. Tiara had a kind spirit and was a friend to all she met. She would greet you with her infectious smile and, laugh and instantly you'd feel the touch of an angel. Tiara was Momma's girl at heart and spent some of her best times laughing and loving on her mother. Left to cherish her wonderful memories are her partner, Taneisha Bedenfield; her parents, Bernard Burns, Georgiana and Marco Mitchell; grandmother, Glinnie Mitchell; Godparents, Jerome and Mary Burns; siblings, Brandy Ross, Kira Mitchell, and Marco Mitchell, Jr.; uncles and aunts, Linda Clayton-Powell, Bonnie Johnson, Jackie Stephens (Robert), Stephanie White, Pearline McFall (Robert), Thressela Jackson, Roudolph Riley, Joan Johnson (Phil), Willie Mitchell (Alice), Linda Flowers (Arthur), Lightning Mitchell (Sandy), Joe Mitchell, and Dirk Mitchell (Trina); six nephews, two nieces, a host of cousins, other relatives, and close friends. Memorial services will be Friday, June 17, 11:00 a.m. at Concord Fortress of Hope. Services conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Condolences may be shared on our website.
