Timothy
Mcdaniel
Oct 7, 1963 — Jan 10, 2018
Timothy McDaniel, 54, KCMO, passed away on January 10, 2018. He was born October 7, 1963 to Melvin McDaniel and Mary Lou Stewart-McDaniel in Hayti Missouri. In 1967 the McDaniel family decided to move to Kansas City, Missouri and begin their new life. They bought a house on 36th and Askew. The family attended church regularly and ever Sunday morning Timothy would read the newspaper.
Timothy received his education from schools such as Seven Oaks, Chester A. Anderson and Van Horn High school. During his time at Chester A. Anderson, he developed a not so good reputation. A teacher at the school decided to test Timothy and discovered that he was neither defiant nor rebellious, he simply had a brilliant mind and the high school work was not challenging enough for him.
In June of 1979 at the age of 17, Timothy began working at the Plaza Shoe Shine for Mr. Richard Pitts. Steve Murry introduced Timothy to Mr. Pitts. Throughout the years of them working side by side and Timothy learning from his mentor, Timothy displayed hard work, dedication, and an unconditional love for the customers. Mr. Pitts passed away in 2000 and indicated in his will that he saw-fit to entrust the shop to Timothy. Timothy made it a habit to greet everyone with a smile and wave, no matter who they were.
Timothy was not one to hold his tongue and he didn't care who didn't like his Raiders gear. Timothy knew all of his customers by name and he knew all of their shoes by heart. Timothy loved waking early and going out to get the newspaper so he could come home and read it. Timothy enjoyed traveling any and everywhere and would often take family trips with his children.
Everything Timothy did, he did wholeheartedly. He instilled structure and courteousness in his children and was a strong advocate for education. Outside of traveling Timothy had a thirst for knowledge. He loved golf and nature. He always could strike up a good conversation.
Timothy leaves behind three children: Tinia Ellis-McDaniel, Teaonna McDaniel and Montanna McDaniel; two God children, Raymond Darkis and Antonio Jones; three brothers: Melvin McDaniel, Jr., Anthony McDaniel and Frederick McDaniel; God brother, Steve Watson.
Timothy also leaves behind so many other family, friends and loyal customers that he has had the pleasure of working with over the years. Timothy will continue to live on in the hearts of those he touched and in the people who love him forever!
