As we look back over the life of Tonce Rochelle Garrett-Brown, it all began on December 11, 1968 in Kansas City, Missouri. She was born to the late Chester R. Garrett and Joyce Marie Garrett. After graduating from Southwest High School in 1987, Tonce furthered her education in the medical field and received her CNA license. She then worked for Senior Estates Nursing Home and was later employed by Tykes and Tots Day Care Center until she was unable to work. Tonce loved children, especially babies and could always be found caring for someone's child. She also enjoyed reading and singing, and could often be found coloring or watching old movies. Tonce accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age under the leadership of her grandfather, Pastor Willie S. Magee. She loved the Lord with all her heart and soul and she loved going to church and worship service. In February 2016, Tonce united with God's Grace and Healing Ministry under the leadership of Pastor Otis Hooker. She was remained a faithful member. Tonce was united in marriage to Marvin Brown on September 20, 2008, but they separated soon after. Tonce departed this life on March 29, 2016. Her father, Chester R. Garrett; mother, Joyce Marie Garrett-Sypert; grandfather, Pastor Willie S. Magee and nephew, Lamonte Livingston-Bailey all preceded her in death. She leaves to cherish her sweet memory: her husband, Marvin Brown; grandmother, Dorothy brother, Darryl Livingston (Georgia); sister, Bernita Ferguson (Emanuel); and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be Saturday, April 9, 11:00 a.m. at Duane E Harvey Funeral Directors. Interment Brooking Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at the chapel.
