Obituary

Mrs. Treobie Taylor, 77, Raytown, Missouri, passed away on May 18, 2016 peacefully at her home. She was born July 27, 1938 in Shreveport, Louisiana to Henry and Artra B. Taylor. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Taylor, Jr.; brothers, Alvin T. Taylor, Joe Louis Taylor, H.P. Taylor and Lovie Taylor; sister, Bertha Mims; grandson, Charles H. Davis III and her 'sister-friend' Ronnie Jenkins. Treobie was educated in the Carrie Martin schools of Plain Dealing, Louisiana. She was raised in a Christian home and expressed a belief in Christ at an early age. On November 27, 1955, she was united in marriage to Robert L. Taylor, Jr. To this union three children were born. In 1965, the family moved to Kansas City, Missouri. She united with Zion Grove Missionary Baptist Church in 1974. There she served on the Mission and taught Sunday school for many years. She was also a member of the Mother's Board in her later years until her health failed. Treobie was employed at Brenda's Thriftway Cleaners for decades until branching off and owning her own cleaners, Tre's Thriftway Cleaners. She loved her family, cooking, church activities and most importantly she loved the Lord and everyone knew it. She leaves to cherish her memory: three children, Norris Taylor, Sr. and Curtis Taylor (Annette) both of Kansas City, MO, and Tramba Taylor of the home; one brother, George Taylor (Linda) of Kansas City, MO; three sisters, Gladys Burney (George) of Plain Dealing, LA, Janie Webb (Willie) of Detroit, MI, and Theoapheis Lee of Shreveport, LA; one grandson, Norris Taylor, Jr. and one adopted grandson, Dominique Anaya; four granddaughters, Mia Taylor, Nakeshia Taylor, Marissa Taylor and Tamara Taylor; one special great grandson, Kenyan Davis (Ciara) and seven additional great grandchildren; her 'sister-friend' of over forty years, Mary Lon Williams; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. Funeral services will be Saturday, May 28, 11:00 a.m. at Zion Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Interment Brooking Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at the church. Services conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Condolences may be shared on our website.
