Ulanda Yvette Jones, 59, was born August 12, 1959 in Cotton Plant, Arkansas to John Henry Ramey, Sr. and Leslie B. (Woods) Ramey. In 1969, at the age of ten she moved to Kansas City, Missouri.

Given the nickname "Red", by family and friends, Ulanda had a heart of gold and a smile that would brighten up the room. She enjoyed cooking and feeding others. She worked as a cook for various companies such as Golden Gates Liquor in the late 1980's, as well as for the IRS and eventually the as a cook at Attucks Elementary in the Kansas City School District for seventeen years. The children affectionately referred to her as "Ms. Lunch Lady" because she showed them love by always making sure they were fed.

Ulanda was united in marriage to the late David Lee Jones in 1987 and they both were baptized in 1990 at Cleveland Avenue Baptist Church.

On September 15, 2018 after a five year battle with cancer, Ulanda peacefully went home to be with the Lord while being held in the arms of her daughters. She was reunited with her husband, David Lee Jones; mother, Lessie B. Ramey; brothers, John Henry Ramey, Jr. and Curtis Means; uncles, Elmos Clark and Elgie Woods who all preceded her in death.

She leaves to continue her legacy: two daughters, Vernita L. Herron (Keith) and Angela D. Ramey Small; one brother, Donnie Ramey; one brother, Donnie R. Ramey, Sr.; two sisters, Katherine M. Ramey and Mancy V. Wooten (Clarence); three grandchildren, Kerriona Ramey, Makila McCulley and MauDasha McCulley; close family friend, Vickie Roy; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.
