Vanessa Leona Robinson was born January 20, 1958 to Veretta Hardin and Maurice Shields in Kansas City, Missouri. Vanessa departed this earthly life September 15, 2021 at 9:40 pm. Vanessa was the mother of two daughters and two sons, of which two preceded her in death. She attended the Kansas City Public schools, and attended modeling school at a young age as well due to her stunning beauty. Vanessa loved Lee James, her long time significant other watching cooking shows, playing solitaire, and dancing. Vanessa was carefree and loved to live life the way she wanted to. In Vanessa's last days she loved coloring with her grandkids, listening to music, remembering old times, and eating her candy. Vanessa was preceded in death by her daughter Joy Stewart, son Calvin Robinson Jr., sister Linda Jones, brother Joseph Michael Jones father Maurice Shields, maternal grandmother Viola Murdock, maternal great grandmother Lucille Jones, maternal grandfather, paternal grandfather Johnny Jones and Joseph Shields, paternal aunt Mary Belle Shields, paternal uncles Floyd Adrick Stewart, Joseph (Bazo) Shields, James (Jimmy) Shields, Clifford (Tip) Shields, great- niece Ale'anna Douglas. Vanessa leaves to cherish her memory her daughter Ebony Jean Robinson, son Arlend Stewart, mother Veretta Hardin, spouse Calvin Robinson Sr., stepfather & brother Freddie Hammons Jr. & Sr., brothers, Maurice (Kim) Jones, Eric Jones, sisters Brenda Jones, best friend Gwendolyn Currie, seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren, several special nieces and nephews, and a host of other family and friends that cared deeply about our loved one. Private graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 25, 2021 at Brooking Cemetery, Raytown, MO. Masks and social distancing is required for those in attendance.
