Verdis Linda Barnes, 66, was born March 3, 1950 in San Antonio, Texas to the late Horace Lee Kinney, Sr. and Jacqueline Rose (Reese) Kinney. Her siblings, Harry Floyd, Rosemary Floyd, Apryl Floyd and Amber Floyd all preceded her in death. Verdis was educated in Los Angeles, California. She was employed by UCLA for a number of years until retiring on June 30, 1989. In her spare time she would do home health care jobs, as she loved caring for others. Verdis was united in marriage to Louis Lee Barnes, Sr. on May 9, 1969. She loved her family and making sure they were always well taken care of. Verdis departed this life on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at Sr. Joseph Medical Center. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her husband, Louis L. Barnes, Sr. of the home; son, Louis L. Barnes, Jr. of Harrisonville, MO and daughters, Louvette L. Barnes and Vanada L. Barnes both of Grandview, MO; one brother, Horace L. Kinney, Jr. of Carson, CA; eleven grandchildren and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. Memorial services will be Saturday, January 28, 5:00 p.m. at Duane E.
