Viney F. Harris, 73, passed away on August 21, 2019 at Research Medical Center. She was born July 11, 1946 in Waterproof, Louisiana. She was preceded in death by her parents Thomas and Pearlie (Taylor) Myles, brother Roosevelt and sister Matilda.

Viney was educated in Louisiana before moving to the Kansas City area, where she made her home for over fifty years. She accepted Christ at an early age and was a strong believer of Jesus Christ. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church for over forty years, where she served on the Usher Board #1, Sunday school department and hospitality committee.

Viney was employed with Superior Toy Company for a number of years. She later worked for Fabric Quilt until she retired.

Viney loved to cook and was well known for her turkey, ham, macaroni and cheese, and spaghetti, all of which will be missed. She loved her family dearly and shared a special bond with her twin sister, Lonnie. She even had a hand in raising many of her nephews and nieces. Viney was a kind and gentle person who was slow to anger, never letting anything bother her.

She leaves to cherish her memory: her twin sister Lonnie Shorts, sister Irma Henderson and brother Thomas Myles, Jr. all of Kansas City, MO, and sister Julia Norwood of Jackson, MS; very special friend James Griffin; close friends Vernice Wilson, Carrie Williams and Marva Thomas; a host of nephews, nieces, great nephews and nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services Saturday, August 31, 11:00 a.m. at Friendship Baptist Church. Interment Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation 9:00-11:00 a.m. at the church. Services conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Condolences may be shared on our website.
