Viola Mae Harris, 72, KCMO, passed away on March 7, 2017 at the home. She was born June 21, 1944 in Little Rock, Arkansas to Benny and Celesta (Matthews) Weems. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald Weems and Ernest Johnson; one sister, Jean Johnson; and son, Christopher Harris. Later in life, Viola met Ray Harris and moved to Kansas City, Missouri forty-eight years ago where they became husband and wife. Their union was blessed with four children. Ray also preceded her in death. Viola accepted Christ as her personal Savior and was a member of Greater Corinthian Church of Christ Non-Denominational. As a homemaker, she provided her family with the greatest love and care that a mother could give. She enjoyed bowling, fishing, playing cards and socializing with others. She is survived by her children, Celesta D. Harris-Schultz (Donald), Ray V. Harris-Johnson (Mark), and Barnard Harris; brother, Edward D. Weems (Beverly); sister-in-law, Patricia A. Weems; five grandchildren, Cierra C. Harris, Morgan R. Johnson, Kristopher M. Johnson, Maya B. Johnson and Jaida L. Harris; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and dear friends. Funeral services will be Saturday, March 11, 11:00 a.m. at Greater Corinthian Church of Christ Non-Denominational. Interment XII Gates Memorial Gardens.
