Obituary

Virginia Ann Martin-Williams, 67, departed this life on April 26, 2017 at Plaza Manor Nursing Home. She was born November 18, 1949 in Amory, Mississippi to the union of Esaw Dean and Virginia Faye Gilleylen. Preceding her in death were her beloved grandparents, parents, uncles, aunts, son Lester Gilleylen and husband Litt Williams. Virginia was educated in the public schools of Amory, Mississippi and furthered her education obtaining her C.N.A. certification from Job Corp in Excelsior Springs, Missouri. She worked in the healthcare field for over thirty years, retiring from Western Missouri in 2005. Virginia had plans to return to her hometown in Amory after completing her studies, however she met the love of her life, Glen A. 'T.C.' Martin. The two married and from their union two daughters were born, forming a blended family of ten. The marriage was later dissolved, but they remained friends. She later married her best friend, Litt Williams. Virginia devoted her life to loving and caring for her family and others. She loved going to the casino, traveling to Mississippi, and shopping. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and talking on the phone with family out of town. She leaves to cherish her memory: two daughters, Cynthia M. Garner (Charles) and Norma Martin (Robert); two special granddaughters, Detrease and Cherre'; two sisters, Josephine Gilleylen and Rosa Mae Hadley; six grandchildren, Reggie (Sadie), Markos (Shonni), Tywan, Jerrell (Ashley), Johneisha and Jordan; nine great grandchildren, Reggie, Marquise, Imani, Journey, Tyler, Ashton, Marley, MarShonna and Saniyah; one uncle, Douglas Gilleylen; two aunts, Alice Gilleylen and Annie Gilleylen; one nephew, Tim; two nieces, Shana and Brittany; special friends, Beatrice and Norma; and a host of other loved ones and friends. Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 3, 11:00 a.m. at Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Interment Leavenworth National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the chapel. Services conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Condolences may be shared on our website.
