Walter Don Sidney, Sr., 81, passed away on August 8, 2018 at Indian Creek Care Center. He was born July 16, 1937 in Excelsior Springs, Missouri to Georgia Sidney. He was raised by his grandparents, Charles and Alice Sidney, Sr. His mother and grandparents preceded him in death.

Walter attended school in Kansas City, Missouri. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corp on April 11, 1957 and was honorably discharged on October 10, 1962.

Walter was married to Brenda Hughes in February of 1961 and from this union two sons were born, Walter Jr. and Byron. The marriage was dissolved in 1967.

Walter worked for Kansas City, Missouri Fire Department, Meyer West Apartments and the Holiday Inn in downtown Kansas City. He had a love for driving and drove a diesel truck and a bus during his career.

Walter leaves to mourn his passing: his sons, Walter D. Sidney, Jr., Byron B. Sidney and Carl Brown, Sr. (Doretha) all of Kansas City; grandsons, Carl Brown, Jr., Jermaine Brown and Michael Brown; granddaughters, Khyheshia N. and Keona; cousins, Larry Sidney (Deborah), Sylvia Johnson, Linda Williams, and Treva Bradley; a host of other family as well as many other good friends. A special acknowledgement goes to a very dear friend, Kathy Brown who gave love, support and compassion throughout his life. Walter's infectious smile and friendly personality will be truly missed.
