Wilbert James 'Bill' Williams, 81, went home to be with the Lord on August 19, 2017 at the home. He was born April 1, 1936 to Earl Ellis and Delma Williams-Ellis in Lafourche Paris, Louisiana. Wilbert attended and graduated from C.M. Washington high School in Thibodaux, Louisiana. He joined and served in the United States Army from 1954-1960 as a Liaison Officer. While in Thibodaux, Wilbert married his first wife, Albertha Winston. As time went on he relocated to Kansas City, Missouri where he married his second wife, Minerva Williams in 1960 and they remained married for twenty-five years until her passing in 1985. To that union four children were born, Renee, Curtis, Deborah and Denise. Wilbert later met and married Marie (Rusty) Williams. To that union five more children were born, Kambria, Tony, Sarah, Madison and Frederick, then Aniyah was later adopted to that union as well. Wilbert accepted God as his Lord and Savior early in his life and joined the Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church of Kansas City, Missouri. He was a devoted faithful member serving under the leadership of the late Willard F. Warren and was a dedicated member who served on the deacon board for many years. Wilbert was employed with the City of Kansas City Missouri as Corrections Officer from July 22, 1968 to July 30, 1993, and retired after twenty-five years of dedicated service. He later joined Research Medical Center and Truman Medical Center working in security and dedicated another eight years in total until full retirement. Wilbert always came to the aid of anyone in need, and always went above and beyond giving support to all including those outside of immediate family. He loved his family and friends very much. His favorite pastimes were watching his favorite teams, the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals and spending time with family. Wilbert was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Delma Ellis; three wives, Albertha Williams, Minerva Williams, and Marie Williams; daughter, Deborah Mathews; two brothers, Raymond Charles Ellis and Lawrence Joseph Ellis; and one sister, Dorothy Bailey. Wilbert leaves to cherish is memory: his children, Denise (Dell) Stovall, Kambria Williams, Anthony Williams, Madison Williams, Sarah Williams , Frederick Williams and Aniyah Williams of Kansas City, MO; three sisters, Rosie Coles (Samuel) of Kansas City, MO, Mary Jo (Lenny) Mozee of Lee's Summit, MO, Gail (Earl Jr.) Tillman, and Linda (Larry) Tillman of Thibodaux, LA; sisters-in-law, Carrie Ellis and Marion Ellis of Thibodaux, LA; grandchildren, Ian Williams, Kaylin D. Davis, Jr., and Terry Moore, Jr., Donna (Steve) Morgan and Tiffany (Preston) Gardenhire, and a host of great-grandchildren, cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends. Funeral services Friday, August 25, 11:00 a.m. at Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Interment Floral Hills Cemetery. Visitation 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the chapel. Services conducted by Duane E.
