Obituary

William Neil Leverette was born May 15, 1991 in Kansas City, Missouri to the union of Frederick D. Leverette, Jr. and Venita G. Jackson-Leverette. God called William home on December 15, 2019.

William was preceded in death by his maternal great grandmother, Addie Mae Smith, paternal great grandparents, Melvin O. Brooks and Alpha Brooks, maternal grandparents Alfred Jackson, Sr. and Neil Jackson, paternal grandfather, Frederick D. Leverette, Sr., maternal uncle, Alfred Jackson, Jr. and nephew Bruce Price, Jr.

William was primarily educated in Christian elementary schools, finishing his secondary education in the public-school system at Lee's Summit High School graduating in the class of 2009. While in High School William excelled in academics, on the football field and enjoyed being on the wrestling team. William went on to further his knowledge at Longview Community College and completed his higher education at the University of Missouri at Kansas City (UMKC) where he received his bachelor's degrees in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering and also Physics. As a subject matter expert in software, William recently planned to obtain his master's degree in Electrical and Software engineering and had intentions on attending law school to pursue a degree with his goal to be a patent attorney.

Some of his proud accomplishments include being apart of the Society of Physics Students Club, induction into and becoming President and holding a Regional Conference Chair while sitting on the conference planner committee board. National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) William readily mentored, tutored and was always giving back to others while being an ambassador to the Science Technology Engineering & Mathematics field (S.T.E.M.). The Missouri State legislature recognized William for his undergraduate research study for his version of a 3-D Printer Prototype. He was invited to the State Capitol of Missouri in Jefferson City to perform his experiment in front of the Senate of the House of Representatives. As if this were not enough, William also landed an internship at Blue Waters as a Parallel Program Analyst in Champagne, Illinois.

Fresh out of college, William was employed by Esterline Avistain Platteville, Wisconsin as a Software Engineer. He was later recruited by Raytheon Missile Systems in Tucson, Arizona as a Senior Software Engineer in the Military Defense Department.

While moving around and acclimating in different places, William took a strong interest for traveling and seeing new things. This year alone he had the opportunity to visit London, Paris, France and had plans to attend the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo Japan with his best friend, Rene. In between working hard and traveling, William discovered a newfound hobby – GOLFING. He was so thrilled about taking up his new skill, that he recently purchased himself a set of golf clubs for his parents to gift him for Christmas this year.

What we will always remember most and were blessed to have in William was a caring, intelligent and selfless man who would always put others needs above his own. William had an off-beat sense of humor, was very funny without even trying always keeping his loved ones with a smile from his presence alone.

William was a devoted son, brother, nephew, cousin and true friend. William leaves his imprint in the hearts of all his family and friends.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his parents Frederick D. Leverette, Jr. and Venita G. Jackson-Leverette; sisters, Amber M. Leverette of Marietta, GA, Marquita D.
