William Sylvester Wiley, 70, KCMO, passed away on September 1, 2017 at the home. He was born June 16, 1947 in Kansas City, Missouri to the union of Kermit and Hester Wiley. His parents; brother, Jonathan Wiley and sisters, Arlene Moore Charles and Wyonna Toliver, preceded him in death. William was baptized in 1958 at Emmanuel Church under the leadership of the late Bishop W. H. White, Sr. He accepted his calling and was ordained into the ministry in 1973. William attended Paseo High School and entered the United States Navy in 1966. He was honorably discharged after serving in Vietnam. William worked at Hallmark Cards as a draftsman. William loved watching old westerns on TV, and enjoyed sitting outside watching and talking to people. His sister Lonzetta loved her conversations with William and affectionately referred to him as 'Peanut Head.' He leaves to cherish his memory: two brothers, Wesley Wiley and Fredrick Wiley; seven sisters, Iola Riley (Ernest), Evelyn Wiley, Rev. Margie Wiley, Lonzetta Wiley and Virginia Hughes (Terence) all of Kansas City, MO, Zenobia Wiley of Bay Point, CA and Ardella Wiley of Kansas City, MO; his special friend, Balenda Scott and a host of nieces, nephews and many friends. Funeral services Monday, September 11, 10:00 a.m. at Emmanuel Baptist Church. Interment Leavenworth National Cemetery. Visitation 9:00-10:00 a.m. at the church. Services conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Condolences may be shared on our website.
