William Montell Wilson was born on August 23, 1979, to Deborah Wilson and Roy Johnson. He was the third of four sons, following his older brothers Raymond and Royce, and was a proud big brother to Wesley. He also shared a blended family with his cousins Dustin Wilson and Saviah Wilson. Together, the five of them navigated the challenges and adventures of life in Kansas City.
Will attended Melcher Elementary School and Central Middle School, ultimately graduating from Central High School.
Will committed his life to Christ at an early age at Harvest Church in Kansas City, Missouri, under Pastor Steve Houpe, as part of the Youth Victorious Group led by Pastor Tony Stanley. Known for his genuine goodness, Will was kind hearted and welcomed friends into his life as family. He cherished his role as an uncle to his many nieces and nephews. Will loved to grill, throwing a big barbecue every year. He often invited family over with a cheerful "Hey, barbecue, come get a plate." He also had a passion for collecting exclusive Air Jordans, building an impressive collection.
Will's connection to music was profound and immediate. In 1999, with his love for Kansas City in mind, he cofounded Hog Time Records, an independent music production company. Alongside his lifelong friends cofounders Royce also known as Egg Da Hog and Lee Lee also known as Ice Da Hog, they helped grow Hog Time Records into a well known music label, producing classic rap albums and mixtapes in Kansas City. His passion and determination were evident in his lyrics and unique rap style.
Will was known for his signature straight back braids. He did not miss an appointment with his trusted friend, Tameka Williams.
With his passport always ready, Will developed a love for travel, frequently planning group trips abroad with friends. He also enjoyed working out at Next Level Fitness, where he dedicated time to his fitness goals and enjoying his time with beloved gym family.
He was a dedicated employee at Tower Park in Kansas City, Missouri, where he worked for many years.
Will was preceded in death by his mother, Deborah Wilson; his grandmother, Ora Wilson; his beloved Uncle, Kenneth Blanks; his favorite cousin, Auston Blanks; his aunt Jean Wilson; and his uncle, Morris Wilson. He leaves behind cherished memories with his siblings, Raymond Wilson also known as Roxy, Royce Wilson also known as Kentucky, Wesley Wilson, Dustin Wilson, and Shakiya Wilson also known as Angel; his nieces and nephews, Maraya, Royshay, Ravauna, Raivonna, Royce Junior, Jay Dion, Tyah, Tristan, and Jordyn. He is also remembered by his aunts and uncles, Steven Wilson, Angela Blanks, William Wilson, Beverly Tanner Arthurs, and Brenda Wilson; alongside his cousins Kenyatta Freeman also known as Micaela, Leo Wright the third, Angela Blanks, Bianca Medina, Nicholas Blanks, William Cassell, and a host of friends who held him dear.
