Obituary

Willie Jackson, 88, died peacefully at his home in Grandview, Missouri on August 23, 2018. Willie was born on September 20, 1929 in Fredrick, Oklahoma to Clarence and Florence Jackson. He was the youngest of four sons. His parents and two brothers, Charles and Julius and two daughters, Brenda and Diane all preceded him in death.

Willie was a twenty five year veteran of the United States Army serving in both the Korean and Vietnam wars. After retiring from the Army, he began working for the U. S. Postal Service where he retired after twenty five years. He later worked for Enterprise Rent A Car for fifteen years.

Willie was an accomplished sportsman who competed in football baseball, wrestling, boxing, golf and was an avid fisherman. This transitioned into coaching Little League baseball and football after his retirement. He was an active member of the community serving on various local boards and councils.

Willie was a loyal member of the Grandview-New Vision Assembly of God where he served on the Board of Trustees and Elders. Besides being a brave and loyal soldier he was a dedicated provider for his family, a man of honor, honesty and integrity. He was also a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather.

He is survived by: his wife Verna, two sons, John and Maurice; one brother, Harold; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services Tuesday, September 4, 11:00 a.m. at Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Interment Fort Leavenworth National Cemetery. Visitation 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the chapel. Services conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Condolences may be shared on our website.
