Obituary

Willie Orlando Taylor, 67, passed away peacefully on February 27, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, Willie's presence brought warmth and joy to all who knew him.

Born March 1, 1957, Willie dedicated his life to serving others, retiring after a distinguished 32-year career as a Kansas City, Missouri firefighter. His bravery, selflessness, and unwavering commitment to his community left a lasting

impact on those he served alongside and those he helped in times of need.

Beyond his career, Willie found great joy in life's simple pleasures. He loved golf; but as he would say, he was great at anything he attempted to play, which included basketball, baseball, fishing, hunting, boating, bowling, you name it, and he was able to master it!

No matter what city Willie was in, he managed to find the best golf courses to play, adding them to his list. His love for the game was strong. On a good day, he would compare his play to that of Tiger Woods. However, on less-than-perfect days he'd say it was more like a Tiger in the woods. Anyone who's ever played with him knows that he likes to talk trash and wager a bet in a heartbeat!

He was a true outdoorsman who loved sitting on the front porch, watching the sunrise and sunset. Also, he was a jack of all trades. From home improvement to auto repairs, he could do anything. His talent and abilities were immeasurable. He was, an All-Around Renaissance Man.

Willie's greatest joy, however, was his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Coletta Staggers-Taylor; his children, Tyson Nicole (Elree) Canty; Jasmine (Chris) Simmons; Venee (Gary) Staggers; his cherished grandchildren, Nicole Canty, Canaan Simmons, and Imani Gasaway; his siblings, Patricia Mason and Carolyn Thomas; like a brother, Greg Hayes; like a nephew Michael Newson and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

Though he is no longer with us, the love and laughter he shared will remain in our hearts forever.

Rest in peace, Willie, job well done here on earth.
