Yohance L.
Barker
Jul 16, 1986 — Aug 3, 2023
Yohance Leon Barker – 37 years was born on July 16, 1986, in Georgetown Guyana, South America to Colin and Wynette Barker.
He was preceded in death by Grandparents - Claude and Maylene Barker; Rudolph and Elaine Dickson; Uncle - Lawrence Gumbs & Hugh Anthony Dickson, Aunts – Jenny John and Cheryl Barker; Great Uncles – Shirley and Leon Barker; Rudolph King; Terrence Gumbs, Alphonso, Bryon, and Lennox Dickson; Great Aunts, Beryl and Ismay and many other relatives.
Yohance was educated in the Guyana in the public schools of St Ambrose Primary School and graduated from St Winifred High School in 2004. Yohance migrated to the US with his family in 2005.
Yohance was baptized as one of Jehovah's witnesses on August 9, 2003. He loved reading the bible and taught many individuals about the true God, whose name is Jehovah. He believed all of God's promise of a new heavens and a new earth where many will live in a paradise free from sickness, sorrow, and death. "At that time the eyes of the blind ones will be opened, and the very ears of the deaf ones will be unstopped. At that time the lame one will climb up just as a stag does, and the tongue of the speechless one will cry out in gladness."—Isaiah 35:5, 6.
He was a supervisor at UPS and Forklift Driver at Grainger. During the last 3 years, Yohance received his CDL A license and started his very own trucking business (YLB Trucking LLC) contracted with Prime Inc travelling State to State delivering products to many businesses. However, his illness prevented him from completing his dreams of providing financially for himself and family.
Witnessing the departure of an affectionate and nurturing child constitutes one of the most challenging trials for any parent. Our solace lies in the prospect of a resurrection, wherein I shall reunite with him, adorned with his remarkable and caring demeanor, accompanied by his charming smile.
Yohance departed this life on August 3rd at Research Medical Center after a brief illness.
Heartfelt thankfulness and appreciation, go out to everyone who is sharing our deep grief and sorrow, at this difficult time of our lives. We sure appreciate your time in coming for the funeral, leaving an encouraging word, or any other gesture of love shown to us and our family. There is no word to express the greatest sadness and hurt a mother and father feels when their child is no more. We along with his siblings and other family members and friends are still in disbelief and total shock that Yohance is gone with a blink of their eyes.
We look forward to seeing him again in Paradise, where he will rise again in perfect health with the same winsome smile and charming personality. This hope is sure as shown in the bible at John 11:43 (Jesus resurrected Lazarus) and Acts 9:40 (Peter resurrected Tabita). In the same way Yohance will hear Jesus's voice saying "Yohance Rise" and he will be brought back to life in perfect health and happiness. In the meantime, let us work hard to be there to welcome him back to life again. I will continue to teach my grandsons; Zeek and Ethan about our loving God Jehovah and his promise to bring their dad back to life again.
Yohance Leon Barker was a very respectful, caring, industrious, diligent, and hardworking son and father that did not know a stranger. Let us continue to celebrate the wonderful legacy Yohance has left us in being honest and loving in all things. We will miss our loyal, caring, smiling and dedicated son, brother, nephew, cousin, friend, and awesome hardworking father to two most adorable sons, Zeek and Ethan.
