Yvonne Cecilia Ray, 81, went on to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 22, 2019. She was born August 29, 1932 in Kansas City, Missouri, the seventh of ten children born to the union of Harry J. Lark and Ruby D. (Simon) Lark.

Yvonne graduated from Manual High School where she enjoyed performing as a majorette (bragged about it all the time!). She was a person of many talents: an entrepreneur, beautician, a bowler, and a smooth dancer. As a devoted wife and mother, she loved her family dearly and had a special place in her heart for helping others.

Yvonne was employed with Smurfit-Stone Container for over 25 years as a machine operator and supervisor.

Baptized at a young age, Yvonne worked tirelessly in her church under the leadership of Reverend John L. Preciphs. She was a Sunday school teacher, sang in the Adult choir, and assisted with the Youth choir. In the summer she was a Vacation Bible School teacher and leader.

Yvonne was preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years, Shelley Leon Ray; her parents, Harry J. Lark and Ruby D. (Simon) Lark; sisters, Gloria Duffel, Evelyn Young, Gertrude Steward, Marva Easley, and Harriet Reynolds; brothers, Harry J. Lark, Jr. and Jerry Lark; and sons, Rory Lark and Clifford Lark.

Survivors include her sons: LaVance Lark, Sr., Jay Lark, and Larry L. Ray; daughters, Chris Howard and Shelley Ray-Ausler; siblings, Gary Lark and Maxine McArn and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services Saturday, August 31, 2:00 p.m. at Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Interment XII Gates Memorial Gardens. Visitation 1:00-2:00 p.m. at the chapel. Services conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Condolences may be shared on our website.
